It is the unfortunate experience of many women to know what it is like to be called irrational. When a woman shares her pain, her concerns are often met with skepticism, dismissal, or medications that don’t solve the problem. This is the reality of many women who have been diagnosed with Breast Implant Illness, also known as BII. This illness is frequently deemed controversial, minimized, and is not universally recognized by the medical community.

Breast Implant Illness can encompass a wide range of symptoms that develop from breast implants. These symptoms can include muscle pain, fatigue, trouble focusing, insomnia, rashes, anxiety, depression, hair loss, and every other side effect often rattled off on a late-night infomercial. When it comes to your body, ignoring these signs can cost you quality of life, or life itself.

If you have implants and are struggling with any of the symptoms above, we strongly urge you to give us a call. After other causes are ruled out, the best solution is to take the implants out, Our medical professionals are firm believers in BII and specialize in the removal of breast implants – this is procedure is called an En Bloc Capsulectomy. During this procedure, the entire implant and capsule is removed intact to ensure nothing is left behind.

Breast implants are not permanent and will need to be replaced or eventually removed. If you have breast implants, we recommend regular MRI screenings every two years for silent ruptures that could occur. Even if there is no rupture, you could still suffer from BII. If you are worried about the side effects from implants, or wondering if you’re at risk of BII, schedule a consultation with our BII advocate, Laura Bowden.

We are grateful for advocates, like Laura, who have claimed their voice and championed for women’s health. At PryorHealth we seek to amplify those voices. We open our doors to hear your story, knowing that your truth has the power to save lives, including your own.

In honor of Women’s History Month and International Women’s day, PryorHealth contends that when it comes to BII, there is nothing controversial about it. These symptoms are your body’s reaction to something, and who knows your body better than you.

There is nothing irrational about you, you are perfectly enough, and we offer the quality of care every woman deserves. Our patients report that through sharing their experience, with our skilled surgeons, staff, and the entire BII community, they find their strength.

At PryorHealth, we take you seriously. We listen to your experience, symptoms, and will work with you on a resolution to your pain. It seems so basic, but this standard of care sets us apart. Throughout your BII journey, we’ll be with you every step of the way.

If you are struggling with BII symptoms after breast augmentation, book a virtual or in-person consultation. Never second guess yourself, especially when it comes to your health. We’re here for you.
